GP says:ex Aer Rianta - Cork RR/Carmichael Commando RIV which is being preserved/re-stored at Dublin Airport. The machine has only just been resprayed but is taking shape.Though the tender looks like it is a long way off - a lot has been achieved to get it to this point in its refurbishment. The engine and the gearbox have been taken out, rebuilt and returned, the bonnet repaired as they could not source another and the cab floor replaced. I am told that the pump is fully working. The next stage is to restore the interior of the cab area which is intact but in need of a good clean and to refurbish the alloy wheels. They have had copies of the original logos made and it will eventually appear with its original registration plate and call sign R4. The vehicle was new to Cork Airport and passed on to Kerry Airport who marked it R1.
