Cape Dolphin Heliport 1

Cape Dolphin is the most northerly point of East Falkland island. A new but very basic heliport is in the process of being completed on the headland to specifically serve the emerging oil industry "off" the North Falkland Basin. The exploration oil-rig in its current location is not accessable in one return journey from Stanley Airport; thus this heliport has been constructed to allow aircraft to re-fuel enroute.

In May 2012 the "rig" was drilling for oil off the south of the island. Thus Cape Dolphin Heliport was not required and the rapid intervention vehicle was stowed at Stanley Airport to protect it from the severe winter weather.
