The new airport fire station.

In July 2011 construction commenced on a brand-new state of the art airport fire station on land adjacent to the main aircraft stands.
Unfortunately after a good start to the project the original contractor folded late in 2011 due to the pressures of the protracted recession.
Following the appointment of a new contractor work re-started on the project in Spring 2012. After a number of minor set backs caused by the dreadful weather of early summer 2012 the fire station was completed in August that year.
After allowing for various modifications and snagging work to be completed the new airport fire-station became fully operational in November 2012.
